PhFW Holiday 2013 - Day 1

PhFW Day 1

Michael Cinco

This is Miguel.

First day of fashion week! We went to the Michael Cinco show with our friend Bea and Celine's dad (he's not a regular dad, he's a cool dad). Arrived in SMX at 8 and ended up lining up for 2 hours. Oh, the things we do for fashion! (also, if you're planning to go a show early, it might not be the best idea to wear heels) We did find ways to entertain ourselves while waiting though.

Meet Miguel. It isn't obvious in the picture, but his hair is an awesome shade of blue-green. Also, he's wearing a necklace from OS Accessories which is a local brand that I love! G-Dragon even wore one of their caps in his Michigo video. (I love G-Dragon and Big Bang ok, i don't care if you judge me -Mae)

Then Celine spotted some models and fell in crush-at-first-sight. We were trapped in front of the line though, and lost the two lovely models in the crowd. But this story isn't over yet. (Foreshadowing! ooohhhh...)

Finally, on to the show! The show started in a really dramatic fashion (get it, fashion? LOL) with all the models coming out at once, wearing gorgeous white dresses.

Then the black dresses came out in an equally dramatic fashion. The designs this season focused on very wearable pieces with feminine silhouettes. The first set of white even featured baby doll dresses with lace details which Mae and Celine would love to wear.

Each piece in the collection was so intricate, it was clear that so much effort was placed in the creation process. Michael was able to achieve such precision in his construction that his embroidery actually looked like geometric patterns.

Lastly, Michael's three show pieces emerged, three crazy voluminous dresses full of fabric and poof and wonderfulness.

What we love most about Michael's work is that his style has become so distinct, even if this collection was more toned down than his previous ones, all the dresses were still undeniably Michael Cinco.
After the show, we found the Higgins siblings, who run our school. Aren't they lovely? We love the details on their outfits.

                                                        Close-up of Miss Sandy's coat
All the models came out for the press to photograph and at first we were too shy to even attempt to go closer but Miss Sandy told us "be malakas loob" so we shot towards the models (shot right out of the sky, you're my kryptonite) p.s. "be malakas loob" is now my motto for life.

Also we all took pictures with Andre Chang, who is really friendly and always seems to be the best dressed person, not only during fashion week, but every freaking day. Yay! It's the Andre Chang fanclub!

Then, we both spotted a very tall, lovely man, wearing an amazing coat, which we had to take a picture of, so we did! His name is Francis and we get to see more of him on the succeeding days of fashion week (ooooohhh…. even more foreshadowing!)

Ran into Andre again as we were about to leave. We even got to chat with him for a little bit! He said he liked Celine's blouse and he liked Mae's trousers (which we both made! self-five woo hoo!) We also bumped into Albert Andrada outside SMX, and he loved Celine's blouse.

Overall, it was an amazing way to start fashion week.

Why, hello there!

Why are introductions so hard? All we want to do is say hello to you all! But i guess we've already proven that we're pretty crap at introductions (video evidence here) so we'll just get right on with the post shall we? We're Mae and Celine, two fashion design/dressmaking students from Slim's Fashion and Arts School. We love fashion, food, photography, art, literature… *phew* And because of our love of all these things we just felt the need to record our shenanigans for posterity's sake. So this blog will serve as a documentation of all (or most of) our tomfoolery.  Thanks for stopping by our blog and please watch out for future posts! Here, have some cake!
